JIE FANG
HOTEL IN XI’AN
This might be useful for incoming guests who are
booked into the Jie Fang Hotel.
- On arriving at Xi’an Railway Station, you will exit the station
by the underpass. Emerging into a mass of people trying to sell
maps etc, taxis, anything you might buy. IGNORE them.
Your destination is the Jie Fang Hotel, which is
to your left front diagonal.
If you turn to your left and walk along you will observe to
your right firstly an area where taxis leave from, keep going
and you will next see a large open area, exit into that at the
first opportunity. Walk across this area on the diagonal, there
is an outlet on your left which will enable you to cross the
road. The Hotel is then on your right, in the corner – normally
has three or four green taxis immediately in front of the doors.
-
A
travel agent is called Stephanie, the man Mr. Wang. Both speak
very good English. They are always very helpful and will help
you to get a reasonable hotel.
They could place you at The Jie Fang Hotel, ask for

The main difference is that whist you have a card,
you have to show the card to the person on duty throughout 24

with a flask of boiled water.

-
Located only 5 minutes walk from
Tian An Men square and 10 minutes walk to the famous
Wangfujing area.
-
You
don't need any transport to go to the Forbidden
City, it's a walking distance from the hotel.
-
Temple of Heaven, just in front of Hongqiao market, RMB. 10 by taxi.
Shopping?
just go to Hongqiao market, a very attractive shopping place,
whole saler price, only RMB. 10 by taxi from the hotel. But
don't hesitate to bargain, and if you get it for 50% from
the price theyoffer, they got you! If you get it for 15%
of the price, you are smart. OR, go to Silk Market/Alley,
only three stop by subway. The same like Hongqiao
market, you must bargain.
-
Also
Tony can arrange a car to meet you at the hotel and take
you to the Mutianyu Great Wall, this trip cost RMB.
350.The car to The Great Wall is only for 4 people, if you
want a minivan (Jinbei) it will be RMB. 800 exclude the
toll fee, and it will be RMB. 850 include toll fee. So you
better take 2 cars?
The price of Dong Jiao
Min Xiang hotel for April is RMB. 415 per room. Will increase
the price since April 1, the new price valid up to August
15 is RMB. 500 (sleep two people) per night
include buffet breakfast, service and tax.
If you need an extra bed for your
child, The extra bed cost RMB. 180 per night.
Tony’s contract rate is considered
the lowest in Beijing because they gave to other agent for
USD. 60 without breakfast. Other 4 stars hotel in
Beijing sell at USD. 70 room only, no breakfast.
If you agree, Tony will
make a reservation for you at the Dong Jiao Min Xiang Hotel,
Because this hotel is getting so famous, quite difficult
to get confirm now. Tony need your names for making the
reservation to the hotel. Please advise.
Another option is the
Sino Swiss Hotel,
a 4 star hotel near the airport. It costs RMB 585/night
room only, and RMB 668/night including breakfast. But you
still need to pay RMB 6 for city development tax/person/night.
This hotel provides free shuttle bus from/to airport
and to downtown.
-
Tony can arrange a driver to meet you at the airport
and take you to the hotel, this cost RMB. 150 per car and
RMB. 300 per minivan include toll fee.
-
If you take a taxi
to the hotel, you have to tell the taxi driver to go to Dong
Jiao Min Xiang Hotel at Dong Jiao Min Xiang Lu, behind Capital
Hotel (Shoudu Fandian). Most taxi driver know Dong Jiao
Min Xiang street, it is a very famous street, because it was
the embassies area. The taxi will cost them RMB. 100 the most,
include toll fee. If he charge more, write down his
license number and report it to the police.
-
Tony
would suggest you just take a taxi for going to the airport
on your last day, because it is cheaper.
-
If
you arrive from Xian by train, you will arrive at Beijing
West Station, it will take 10 to 15 minutes by car to the
hotel. You absolutely need a transport to meet you at the
Beijing West station if you don't know the way to get to
the hotel.
Tony doesn't have the price for the
mini van from Beijing West station to the hotel, will advice
you later.
-
From Airport to the railway station,
the transport fee by car one way is RMB.150.
Tony will in charge RMB. 50 for service
fee.
Tony can only purchase train ticket
the earliest 4 days in advance but no guarantee that he will
get it. Depend on the situation at the station.
Tony can meet you or at least send
some one to meet you at the airport and give you the ticket,
but you need to pay RMB. 120 for the taxi fee because Tony
will come from down town special to meet you.
Or, Tony can just send a driver to meet
you at the airport and the driver will take you to the railway
station and you pay RMB. 150 to the driver, you also will
get the ticket from the driver.

YOUTH
HOSTELS IN BEIJING
Travel information on Beijing.
The following is some helpful information for those who would
like to go to Beijing without spending too much money.
The Beijing International Youth Hostel
9 Jianguomen Street, Bejing
Tel: 010-6512 6688-6145(6)
The Youth Hostel is an affiliated to the International Hotel and is
behind of the main one ("Guo Ji Fan Dian" is the Chinese
name).
The location of this hostel is very convenient and the hostel offers
some helpful services:
-
25
- 30 mins on foot from the hostel to Tian'an Men
Square;
-
No.
122 bus from Beijing western railway station goes to
this hotel; or a taxi which may cost RMB 30 ( but you need
to tell the driver the destination that is the International
Hotel as he may not know where this hostel is);
-
There
is a simply decorated Train Ticket Office at the Back
Gate of the International Hotel. The office only charges RMB
5 as the booking fee for each train ticket. But I am not very
sure how many days ahead you may book the ticket. But definitely
2 days ahead is possible.
- There
is a bus stop just opposite the west gate of the hotel for going
to the Great Wall (the ticket for single way is about
RMB 5). But you have to be at the bus stop between 06:30 - 07:30
am to catch the bus, otherwise you will find some bit complicated
way to take a bus.
- The
hotel itself offers Shuttle Bus service to the airport
every 30 minutes starting at 06:30am to 19:00pm. The bus stop
is by the west gate. The ticket is RMB 16. If some one from
the airport goes to this hotel, he may go to NO. 13 Gate of
the airport and take the shuttle bus to the final stop. The
price of the ticket costs the same.
-
There
are quite a few restaurants and shopping centers nearby:
STARBUCKS, SUBWAY and MC'DONALD are in a shopping
mall opposite the hotel,
PIZZA-HAT and FRIENDSHIP STORE and SILK ALLEY (in
international embassies’ area) are east side of the hotel,
about 25 minutes walking. WAN FU JING walking street
and shopping mall is west side of the hotel, about 15 minutes
walking, where you may find more western restaurants who
haven't visited Xi'an yet. And going out of the west gate
of the hotel, you may find several local Chinese restaurants.
The hostel charges you RMB 60 /bed/night for a room with 3 bunk-beds, RMB 90/bed/night
for a room with about 2-4 beds.
As they only offer one bed with necessary bedding, guest should
prepare the necessary personal stuff. Yet, the store of the
hostel has such supply:
The bathroom is publicly shared, offering hot water for 24 hours. The
lavatories are Chinese style - squatty ones.
The hostel offers internet cafe service and charges RMB 10 / hour.
You also may enjoy watching TV in English.
You may be suggested any one who wants to stay there for a couple of
nights to make a reservation in advance, which would be definitely
necessary around tourist busy season, as this Youth Hostel occupies
only one floor.
